![]() ![]() He essentially kills everybody he knows and loves, before turning his home kingdom (Lordaeron) into an undead cesspit and creating an undead army called The Scourge to eradicate all life. On-screen, he'd be like what Anakin Skywalker was like in the new Star Wars films, but with less melodrama and a far more gruesome ending when he kills his own dad and destroys most of the human civilization. Arthas begins as your average goodie-goodie knight of humankind, but over the course of Warcraft III gets twisted by the horrible things he sees and eventually grabs a magical sword that sucks his soul out and turns him evil, infecting much of humanity with a plague that turns them into zombies. Thrall is the leader of the Horde in World of Warcraft, and character-wise feels like a shamanistic, friendlier Conan – brutal yet thoughtful. Men at War Blizzard would do well to focus the film both on Arthas – who later becomes the Lich King – and Thrall, as the former inadvertently brings destruction and disease to the Eastern Kingdoms and the latter escapes it with his newly-forged Horde. ![]() People who are new to the Warcraft lore don't need to know the ins and outs of the first two games, but fans and newbies alike will enjoy watching them summarised in a brief montage of huge battles between Orcs and Humans – a good example of which will be Warcraft I's battle of Stormwind Keep – like Helm's Deep from LOTR except with more blood and guts. The Setup If Raimi's smart, he'll attempt to get through the stories of Warcraft I and II as quickly as possible, establishing the main races and the key events of the storyline without dwelling too much, as by the end of Warcraft II, many of them were quite dead. ![]()
